Sebastien stood in the door frame not being noticed by many of the Sidhe in the room they had their own social agendas, though he noticed a few new faces averted their eyes as they passed. The young wilder Sluagh spent a lot of his time not being seen until he was needed or was in possession of something of value. Tonight Sebastien had something of value, though he often did at weeks end when Nyx had free time to share. They'd grown up together, though he was two years older than the Sidhe Princess; not long after Summer had arrived in the Freehold of Crystal Spire, she'd found her way into the back halls and passages of the castle making alliances with the staff and other residences of the shadows. The friendship between Nyx the name the Princess preferred, and Sebastien had grown strong over the eight years they'd known each other.
It was afternoon and most young wilders had gathered to plan out their weeks end, Yule parties were planned in every nook and cranny through out the freehold. Nyx sat on a stool at the counter, sipping sarsaparilla with a vacant stare as to other Sidhe talked endlessly about party dresses and dance partners. Silently Sebastien walked up behind Nyx carefully reaching a hand to tap her shoulder then halted in his tracks.
"If you put anything slimy on me Bastien I will make you hurt," Nyx said in a soft accent, no one could really place.
"Damnit Nyx!" Sebastien replied taking a seat beside her.
One of the girls standing near Nyx frowned and wrinkled her nose, to which Nyx flashed her a look and asked, "you fart?"
The Sidhe girl blushed crimson and both slithered off to find somewhere else to be.
"You are mean to other girls," Sebastien said in his whispered voice, smirking
"I am not!," Nyx said turning to him, "They came to stand at my table and talk to me. They chose to do so, so they are responsible for the consequences. Besides if they had something to say worth listening to, I'd have asked them to sit down." Nyx finished with a nod and a grin.
Sliding off her stool Nyx climbed up to sit on Sebastien's knee and pulled her glass over to share.
"What time do you leave tomorrow?" Sebastien asked, resting a hand on her hip.
"Dawn, as always." Nyx said with a smile before sipping her sarsaparilla.
"I am glad I found you then, can't have you leaving with your new dress unadorned," he said grinning down at her.
Nyx had received a new outfit for the holidays that Sebastien suspected was from Queen Lauriel herself. A black bodice and long pencil skirt in velvet with an icicle motif pressed into the nap of the fabric. The gown itself was beautiful and it accentuated the Princesses newly acquired feminine figure nicely; however Nyx seemed uncomfortable with the open neck and bare arms. From his pocket Sebastien took a pair long gloves in a rich purple, slipping them on her hands up past Nyx's elbows, then opening her left hand he placed an old silver engraved locket tied on a wide velvet ribbon, in the same purple colour.
There was a sharp intake of breath as Nyx looked down at the locket; turning sideways in his lap she hugged him tightly whispering her thanks to him in his ear. Unlike most females, Nyx never made a scene, but Sebastien could see by the electrical flashes of silver in her deep sapphire blue eyes that she liked his gift. Nyx turned her back to him again and lifted the locket for him to fasten around her neck, the wide ribbon covering her skin and the locket sitting nestled against the center of her collar bone.
"What does her Royal Highness see fit to occupy her time with tonight?" Sebastien asked already guarding himself against Nyx's elbow in his ribs.
After elbowing him in the arm, Nyx said softly, "we should put in an appearance at the tree lighting, and your father wanted me to go over my journey with him so he'd know my itinerary. I'd thought though since I will be a way for a while that we might finish Don Quixote tonight."
As Nyx finished speaking she turned to look up at Sebastien to listening for his response. As he looked down into her face he locked eyes with the young Sidhe his lips, a breath away from hers. In that moment time stood still in a magic spell, his mind split and two voices rang out clearly.
Sebastien held onto the moment as long as he could, feeling the magic of their closeness course through him till the spell broke as he broke the silence telling her with a soft smile, "that sounds like a great way to spend your last night here." As he turned away from Nyx to take a sip of her drink glamour shimmered over his lips and the unspent kiss deepened their colour, forever to remain on his lips till Nyx claimed it.
The two friends shared their evening, ice-skating around the Freeholds lighted tree, eating dinner with Sebastien's family so that Nyx and the Freeholds Dark Guardian, could discuss her journey. Then at midnight the Sidhe and the Sluagh curled up in front of the hearth and Sebastien read the final chapters of Don Quixote to Nyx until they both fell asleep. Nyx woke before dawn and in silence so as not to wake the household, she washed up, dressed in her traveling clothes and ate a breakfast Sebastien's mother left out for her.
Before leaving Nyx tied her hair up at the top of her head tightly with a leather thong. She then tied another thong around her hair two inches along the long ponytail and plaited the three foot length of her hair tightly, tying it off with a third strip of leather. Taking her boot knife Nyx sliced her hair swiftly between the two upper leather thongs leaving her with a rope of her spun copper red hair in her hand, and a layered bob of a haircut on her head. Taking the rope of hair Nyx very carefully slipped Sebastien's newsboy cap from his back pocket and tucked in her rope of hair. Pulling on his cap she whispered softly into his ear a happy holidays, before turning to collect her pack and head out into the frozen tundra and the silver-path that would lead her back to Sosaria. As the door closed behind her, Sebastien opened his eyes and took out her gift smiling softly as he curled it around his fingers and remembering her face just a breath away from his.

"Kiss her," came one voice loud and raucous.
"Don't you dare..." came another voice sharp and proper.
"Look at her, she's hawt, kiss her!" the raucous voice responded.
"She's fourteen, its suicide!" shouted the proper voice.
"Be a man, make her toes curl!" the raucous voice taunted.
"It's too much to risk for just a kiss." the proper voice tried to reason.
"Fucking kiss her, you've dreamed about it!" the raucous voice flared.
"If you offend her, you will loose her forever," the proper voice said discerningly.
