Finding ten minutes alone in the Freehold is not an easy task, stolen minutes on stairs, behind doors always in passing had become precious moments. Now with Dai missing escaping on to the Twilight Dreamer for Ian and Phaen had also been put on hold. The visions Ian had recieved left the fae with little understanding as to where Dai was or why Ai was wilting; perhaps a more direct route needed to be tried.
Ian and Phaen rode down Mount Lebrun to the valley between the Freehold and the City of Luna. Ai stood tall on the landscape but her once vibrant foliage was browning and hung heavy. The two Sidhe climbed to Ai's upper cannopy, looking for needed tools for Ian to teach Phaen to scry; it was hoped they could find Dai before tragedy struck. After a brief conversation with a visiting bee, Ian began the lesson.
There was a murky pool of water in Ai's upper canopy and the two Sidhe knelt beside it. Ian held Phaen's hands a breath above the water telling her to draw on the glamour around them both. Reminding her of how they focused the glamour to activate the trod and see the sigils on the waystones in the dreaming, Phaen focused now on the pool of water using the glamour to see beyond the surface. Opening her eyes Phaen saw her and Ian's reflections, his eyes glowing violet and her's glowing white. Ian told her to call for Dai then concentrate on looking past their reflections to what lay beyond. Something clicked inside and Phaen winced under the onslaught of images washing over her mind. Pictures of places and people she had not been present to see, images of her mother from before she had known her. Softly Ian reminded her to focus; slowly Phaen slowed her breathing and let the images slow down and clarify in her mind. One image came into vision, a large white crane along a pool of water, Phaen knew the crane, it was from Tokuno. A second image took the place of the first and a sand and rock garden also from Tokuno was revealed. Ilshenar may have been a first guess but if the images were true then Dai was not there but in Tokuno.
The images began to fade as the cantrip ended, slowly Phaen's vision cleared and the murky pool returned before her. They returned to Ian's room at the Queen's palace to discuss the cantrip and all it had revealed. With each lesson in fae arts Phaen's grasp of glamour and how it fueled the arts grew, but there was still so much to learn; hope bolstered Phaen's belief that she could learn enough in time to help Dai.
