Laeldril and Sorrian had fought long and hard before calling it a draw. Very rarely did one out fight the other, it was usually tricks or chance that saw a victor. Sitting on the forest floor catching their breaths Sorrian looked to Lael and matter of factly told her, as if she didn't know that her Vampiric blood served her well...
Quelching the panic that gripped her not letting it be shown on her face Laeldril shrugged and flippantly claimed, "it has its benefits". Then a shadow passed over Sorrian's eyes and he took his leave, claiming an appointment he could not miss. Dawn was breaking shortly and Lael needed to get back to her haven, but she needed council and direction. How could Sorrian know.
It was a fitful rest, anticipating the dusk and a chance to find Azrael for council and direction. Finding him in the Mausoleum Lael took a deep breath, as Azrael watcher her closely his mirrored eyes seeing more she was sure than she wished they could in this moment when she felt she had done wrong. Laeldril spoke of Sorrian and their relationship. The training they had done together and how in time they had become intimate. She could tell Azrael nothing of Sorrian's past as neither her nor Sorrian had mentioned any time that existed before they met, but made clear she had no idea what she had done to give her secret away to him. Sorrian had become as important to her as her own daggers and Laedril was torn between her desire to keep him close and her duty to her clan and the masquerade.
There was still light in this world of shadows however, and Azrael who had been joined by the Setess, gave Laeldril several options, one being Sorrians death to silence him forever and protect the clan, and it cast a shadow on her heart. One was to bind Sorrian to her, retain him and bind him with her blood...keep him close...
A lighter heart sat idle in her chest as she left her meeting with Azrael and the Setess. Permission to take a retainer had been granted and Sorrian for all his ability to see through her mask would be bound to silence by her blood...should he choose to accept the offer...
